Yet without the influence of the women in his large and extended family, he might never have become such a famous artist.At first, Claude Oscar Monet's paintings were a success, but as his techniques become more daring, he was turned down for official exhibitions. Undeterred, Monet and his friends, Pisarro, Sisley and Renoir organized their own exhibitions and became known as the Impressionists. This name was given to them by the press, and was inspired by one of Monet's pictures called Impression：Sunrise.
